Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (SRHA) has received the Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to begin the planning process to transform a significant portion of East Suffolk into a viable mixed-use and mixed-income community that supports positive outcomes for all families. The name of this effort is called the East Suffolk Community: White Marsh Neighborhood Initiative.
The goals of this initiative are as follows:
- To create a Comprehensive Transformation Plan for the Cypress Manor/Parker Riddick public housing apartment communities, the White Marsh Shopping Center and adjacent residential communities and vacant property;
- To plan for high quality public schools, outstanding education and early learning programs, public assets and public transportation,
- To plan for improved access to jobs and well functioning services
