Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG)

The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), one of the longest running programs of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, funds local community development activities such as affordable housing, anti-poverty programs, and infrastructure development.

The CDBG Program is designed to support projects that:

  • Principally benefit low and moderate income persons (persons below 80% of the area median income).
  • Linked with other stakeholders to reduce poverty and homelessness.
  • Create and retain jobs/expand economic development opportunities.
  • Are integrated in a long range community strategy.
  • Provide further public and private investment.
  • Enhance deteriorated residential and business districts.
  • Promote partnership and leveraging of funds with local, state, federal and private sources.
